What is NODO?

NODO is the pan-African product community platform with a vision to inform and educate consumers on the latest Web3 & technology products and services being developed across fifty-five countries within the African continent.

NODO was founded by EMURGO Africa, a venture arm focused on Africa and the Middle East and a regional entity of Cardano Blockchain founding entity EMURGO. Emurgo Africa is a $100M fund invested in 40 companies as of Q2 2023.

How Do I Register to NODO?

Registration with NODO is free and fast. You can visit nodo.xyz and click the “Sign Up” button on the top right corner. Enter your email address (and referral code if any) and click “Sign Up”. Enter the verification code sent to your email and you will be able to proceed to setting up your name and password to complete the signup.

How Do I Become An Expert or Maker?

Upon successful registration you will receive your own NODO Badge and gain access to core features of the NODO platform including upvoting, commenting, reviewing, applying for grants, and more.

Experts and Maker badges will be provided to users on a case-by-case basis. Users will need to email nodo.news@emurgo.africa or apply to be a Maker/Expert via the form here.

Quick Note: All users receive a free NODO Badge when they sign up for NODO. Users can apply to be an expert or maker and will be manually verified by NODO Internal Team Members.

How Do I Set Up the User Profile?

Click the top left corner where your profile name and picture is to find several setting options, and click on “My Profile”.

You will be able to change your Location, Company (organization, school, etc.), Role (work title), add your own bio, update your profile picture, change the visibility of your profile, and edit your login credentials directly on the My Profile page.

You can also modify the User Profile via My Settings. Here are the major information that users can edit:

NODO XP & Badge System

User: A NODO community member who is a product consumer. Users use the NODO platform primarily to explore African tech products, upvote, comment, make and check out reviews. Users will collect XP and be provided access to a User Badge within the NODO ecosystem.

Maker: A founder or team member of a tech product that is listed on NODO. Makers use the NODO platform primarily to engage with African tech users via posts, quizzes, and surveys on their Product Community page and reward campaigns hosted with NODO. Makers can collect XP and be provided access to a Maker Badge within the NODO ecosystem.

Expert: A founder or team member of a prestigious tech organization who is a partner of NODO. Experts are deeply knowledgeable to experienced with the industry and primarily use the NODO platform to provide their expertise on the African tech ecosystem through comments and reviews to the community.

You are then given a badge based on the tag you carry: user, maker and expert. The NODO badge defines the benefits available to you on the NODO platform.

User badge: They can upvote, comment, share, and complete quizzes and surveys on the homepage; upvote, comment and share on the product community page; participate in campaigns on the campaign page; and could potentially be upgraded to expert or maker on the user profile page.

Maker badge: They can upvote, comment, share, and publish content, including posts, Quizzes, and surveys, and maintain Content on the homepage; upvote, comment, share, create a Product Page Edit/Delete Product Pages Invite other Users to be Makers on the product community page; Publish with permission to the campaign page by the NODO Team, Verify product page association, Verify user details, Associate with NODO SBT Page on the user profile page.

Expert Badge: They can upvote, comment, share, and publish content, including posts, Quizzes, and surveys, and maintain Content on the homepage; upvote, comment and share on the product community page; Publish with permission to the campaign page by the NODO Team, Verify product page association, Verify user details, Associate with NODO SBT Page on the user profile page.

NODO attends and sponsors major Web3 events across the continent, and perhaps if we come to the Web3 event near you, you can join our online community to enjoy real-life benefits. For our Offline Community, the NODO Badge allows you to have a set of exclusive benefits including access to events, access to special content and access to future campaigns including Quiz Challenge and the Grants Campaign.

While we have talked about the badges and the benefits they attract, it is time to share how you can earn these benefits.

Learn and Earn: The NODO XP System

The NODO XP system tracks how Users, Makers, and Experts engage within our ecosystem, leading to rewards and recognition. You can earn NODO XP by performing specific recurring tasks on our product community platform. Your NODO XP is unique to your User Profile and acts as a tracker, affirming your contributions and involvement in the NODO Product Community.

Key Features of NODO XP:

Collect XP to Earn Rewards: Every week, the users who earn the most XP on NODO website will be featured on a Leaderboard and earn rewards.
Collect XP Once Per Task: Each task in the NODO Product Community rewards XP only once after successful completion.
No XP Alterations: Once accumulated, your XP cannot be deleted or swapped for other items.
Transparent XP Display: You will know the exact XP for all tasks within the NODO Product Community.

You can perform the following tasks, most of which are recurring, to gain XP which will be attributed to your account.

After gaining XP through your activities on NODO, it is finally time to compete for real cash through our XP Leaderboard

The NODO XP Leaderboard

Every week, NODO will celebrate and reward users who have made the most contributions to our platform through the NODO XP Leaderboard. This program is designed to enhance user engagement, foster competition, and reward active participation within NODO.

Every week, a 300 USDT total prize pool will be up for grabs. There will be three main categories for the weekly NODO XP Leaderboard, and the prize pool for each will be 100 USDT.

The three categories include: Top 10 Quiz Users, and Top 10 Survey Users and Top 10 XP Gainers

NOTE: Posts by listed products on NODO can contain a quiz or survey that you can take to gain XP. Surveys can be completed only once, while you can take a quiz as many times as you need until you answer all questions correctly. You need to pass a quiz (get all the questions correct) to be able to gain XP.

Post On NODO

Posts are key components of the NODO platform. As a User, you can read and interact, upvote/downvote, engage in the discussion and share content.

How Do I Publish NODO Posts?

Publishing on NODO is straightforward. Although, only Experts and Makers can.

Create Content: You can create your own content that aligns with the topic or community.
Direct Publishing: Depending on your role, you might be able to publish directly to the home page or specific product pages. Makers and experts, for instance, can publish content directly to the home page. This allows you to share your insights and expertise with the community.
Publish to the Product Community Page: Makers can publish content related to their products.
Campaign Page (coming soon): If applicable, you can request permission from the NODO Team to publish your content on the campaign page. This can help you reach a wider audience and gain more visibility.

Edit Content on the User Profile: You can edit the content of your posts if you want to make improvements or updates. This ensures that your message remains relevant and accurate.
Delete Posts: If you decide that a post is no longer relevant or should be removed, you have the ability to delete your own posts. This allows you to maintain the quality of your contributions and the overall content on NODO.

Remember, your actions on NODO posts contribute to the engaging and informative environment of the platform. Whether it’s reading, sharing, publishing, or managing posts, you have control over your interactions and contributions.

NODO Quiz & Survey

Surveys are designed to be used by Creators, Experts, and NODO Internal Team members to study the behaviour and preferences of their audiences. Meanwhile, quizzes are designed with correct answers in mind and are utilized primarily by Makers as an engagement tool with users. Posts by listed products on NODO can contain a quiz or survey that you can take to gain XP.

How Can I Complete A Quiz/Survey?

Survey:

Users must complete all questions and answers to receive 500 XP
While taking the survey (before completing it), users can click “Back” to redo their answers to previous questions in the survey.
Users will have a maximum of 15 minutes to complete a survey, though most surveys take much less time to complete than this time limit.
Users cannot earn any XP if they partially withdraw from the survey.
Users cannot retry a survey once they complete all questions.
If the user partially withdraws from the survey before completing it, they are allowed to retry the survey until they complete it.

Quiz:

Trying A Quiz:

Users can take any quizzes on the NODO HOME or NODO Product Community pages
Upon successful completion of a quiz, users will earn 500 XP
Answering all questions correctly is necessary to pass the quiz.
Each quiz session is capped at a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
Once users initiate the quiz by clicking the “Take Quiz” button, they cannot refer back to the source text of the post containing the quiz link.
Users are restricted from revisiting questions they’ve attempted previously, regardless of whether the answer was correct or not. Navigating back to previous questions is disabled throughout the quiz.

Retaking a Quiz:

Failed quizzes can be retried, provided they’ve been failed at least once before.
Once a quiz is successfully passed, retaking the quiz is not an option.

How Can I Create a Quiz/Survey?

NOTE: Quiz and Survey creation is limited to Experts and Makers ONLY in the first phase.

It’s very simple to create a quiz or survey on NODO, all you have to do is:

Input the quiz/survey title
Input the quiz/survey questions: You can set either single-answer or multiple-choice per question

Quiz Creation Rules:

You can create a quiz associated with a post or a standalone quiz.
You can set a maximum of 15 questions and a minimum of 3 questions per quiz.
Quizzes can stay on the feed indefinitely or end after a set duration that you can set. If you delete the quiz, it will no longer be visible on the home page.
You can delete or edit the quiz questions and answers within the first 30 days of the quiz being published to the feed
Each time the quiz answers and questions are edited, the edited question will only be applied to users who attempt to do the quiz after the edit was applied. The answers made by users who already passed the quiz prior to the edit will still be considered valid.
You can link the quiz to a product detail page or article. Or you can simply publish it directly to the feed.

Quiz Campaign Section in User Centre:

You can see your previously created as well as completed quizzes in My Profile.
The amount of XP rewarded per quiz is a set 500 XP, the quiz creator cannot modify this amount
