It is no longer news that Africa is key to global blockchain adoption. The continent’s 1.4 billion population holds the world’s largest number of young people, many of whom, despite an existing infrastructure deficit, are exploratory with digital ecosystems. Expectedly, the blockchain industry has gotten lots of attention in recent years, with companies like NODO taking a leading position in telling these stories and painting to the world, the exciting picture of Web3 in Africa.

NODO accomplishes this through a series of strategies beyond the scope of this piece, but one critical to our operations is the Content Fellows Program. It is a carefully curated program that allows storytellers and content creators across the continent to join NODO in amplifying Africa’s Web3 ecosystem while receiving earnings.

Our goal for the Content Program is simple: give independent writers a voice on NODO’s platform; get the best of Web3 updates to our expanding community; and contribute to the prosperity of talented blockchain-focused content creators.

How to join NODO’s Content Fellow Program

To be qualified, we expect that you can demonstrate your ability to create content that educates, inspires, and communicates the multi-faceted dimensions of Web3 in Africa. You should have an online portfolio of some work you have produced within the past year, and be confident that you can produce consistent quality work as you progress with NODO. While we are open to various kinds of content formats(video and audio), we are prioritizing text-based content creators (writers) at this time.

Your articles may highlight a trend, investigate an industry matter, spotlight an ecosystem, or discuss a report. You may choose to interview ecosystem stakeholders, break important news with sufficient context, or write opinion pieces like Ahmed Amer, Emurgo Africa’s CEO did here. Really, it’s all up to you. You have the freedom to choose your story’s direction, so long it ties into our overall message.

Quick fact: You must be African or living in Africa to qualify for the program, and have experience creating content.

Step-by-step process for joining NODO’s Content Fellow Program

Indicate your interest in joining by completing this Content Fellow Form.
If you are selected, you’ll get a response email and be subsequently added to a Telegram group where further information will be shared. You will initially be required to send in your articles for internal review, but following the upgrade of your NODO profile to an “Expert”, you will have the chance to post directly to the site.

Quick fact: Content Fellows can only attribute earnings to one registered Expert Profile account.

For every article, NODO will compensate you with a base fee and additional amounts accrued per upvote on the site. The upvote feature is similar to social media “likes”; only registered users on NODO can upvote articles. While NODO’s community will naturally upvote great articles, some of which may also be promoted by NODO, it is in your best interest to self-promote the articles and generate more upvotes.

Quick fact: There are no limits to Upvotes. Keep raking in more to increase your earnings.

Rules for engagement

All content must be published first on NODO or at least within 24 hours advance notice of all other platforms to count for payment.
Each content fellow can earn compensation based on distinct URLs of content uploaded on the NODO website.
Similar to popular social media platforms, there are monetisation terms. You will need to have a minimum of 100 page views before the compensation terms will take effect.
Great quality and high-performing pieces of content will be featured and/or promoted by NODO at the discretion of the NODO Content & Marketing Team.
The terms will be applicable for the first payment period by the 30th of September 2023.
